Do you even lift, bro?!

Sara is incredibly sweet, but not shy which came in handy when she met Blake. Blake had just returned from a tour in Afghanistan and traveled to Lexington for the first time to visit a friend who had deployed with him. Fate took over and Sara got a glimpse of Blake while at a tailgating party for a UK game and walked right over to him and asked him if he was a powerlifter! Then she asked for the digits. Ya know… digits like how much could he squat, bench, deadlift, and so on. She casually told him he needed to work on his deadlift, he agreed, and they have been a powerlifting power couple ever since!

They had a super small wedding and Sara says they laughed through the whole thing! Let me tell ya… I believe her!! These two were so filled with joy throughout our entire session and I know you will be able to see it on their faces. They share that joy with an awesome pup named Moose and a kitty named Klaus. They adopted Moose from a shelter after searching for a dog for almost a year. They met this adorable dog and could not believe how chill he was while all the other dogs were barking and excited. Then Moose hit Sara with “the shelter dog eyes.” They left the shelter only to get a few miles down the road before Blake asked if Sara wanted to go back and get him to which she replied, “YES!!!!”

I love asking people what they love about each other. Sara told me that Blake is one of those “once in a lifetime people you meet that is so genuine, smart, dedicated, and kind.” Blake talked about how Sara brings out his best qualities and he just wants to be the best he can be so he can always make her happy. HOW ADORABLE IS THAT?!

These two (plus Moose) drove down from Louisville to have a shoot with me and so I’ll admit I felt like the pressure was on. I struggle with that nasty inner voice whispering, “You’re not worth it.” Sara made me feel soooooooooo worth it! Not only were they basically the perfect clients, Sara was so excited and thankful when she received her photos. I do not know which part of this crazy job I love the best; spending time with amazing people or sending some joy on photo delivery day!

All I know is when people ask me if they can bring their dog and want goofy dog-child pictures… I know it is going to be a good day!!
